for everyone
It's been months since I dove in Hantu. Today, went back to help out as a guide, with Geraldine as buddy. Hope she got some good shots! Min current, vis is pretty good, about 3m. 1st dive at north jetty, 2nd dive at western fringing reef. Saw lots of moonies, ceratosama, rabbitfishes, seahorse, nudis, flatworms, juvenile batfish, whip gobies, juvenile sweetlip, pipefish, crab, filefish, comet, etc.

Look like a Cup Coral, Turbinaria Sp. to me. Probably a Turbinaria peltata.

Maybe a Brain Coral, Favites Sp.?

nice ... where is this place actually?

These corals looked alike to me, the pattern make me confuse..haha, thanks for your id.

Thanks for your compliments. These are taken in Spore waters. It's an island south of it, called Pulau Hantu.

Looks like fun muck diving ... exciting.

If I'm not wrong, the trick to differential Platygyra and Favitas is that each polyp of the Favitas is enclosed with 5-6 edges while Platygyra are not (sort of like walls running ard the skeletons.).

Yup, Disc coral aka. Turbinaria

This might be Goniastrea

Seems like it. I get kind of confused with it and the favites. In fact, I can't make out the difference even with that coral reef guide book of spore.

yup, it is kind of like muck diving and part of the joy is in searching.
